  14. Compatibility Statement
  15. The Futurus Team E-Mail and productivity software version 2.02  (DOS 
  16. and Windows) is compatible with LANtastic versions 4.xx and 5.xx with 
  17. the exception of the modem pooling feature.
  18.  
  19. Product Overview
  20. The Futurus Team software includes a full featured E-mail system,  
  21. personal and group scheduling, data base driven phone message center, 
  22. modem communications, multi-user real time Chat, and numerous 
  23. personal productivity tools.  Version 2.02 comes bundled with both a 
  24. DOS and Windows user interface.

  26. Product Installation Notes
  27. Allocate a single dedicated DOS drive letter for the Futurus Team E-mail 
  28. server and all user workstations.  Install Futurus Team for DOS on the 
  29. chosen server, then install the Windows interface on each workstation 
  30. that requires Windows support.  By way of example for this bulletin,  
  31. Futurus will be installed on the server's physical drive C: over a 
  32. redirected LANtastic network drive S: at a workstation.

  34. At the Futurus server type:
  35.  
  36.     SUBST  S:  C:\
  37.  
  38.     Insert the Futurus Team DOS installation disk in the floppy drive 
  39.     and from the floppy prompt type:
  40.  
  41.         INSTALL
  42.  
  43.     Be sure to designate the target drive as (in this example) S: and 
  44.     respond to network type with (3) LANtastic.  Complete the
  45.     installation by following the remainder of the installation prompts.

  47.     To create and maintain Futurus user accounts, groups and 
  48.     resources type:
  49.  
  50.         S:\FT\FT GLOBAL         where S:\FT is the directory where
  51.                     Futurus Team was installed.
  52.  
  53. At the Futurus server, add the following lines to the end of the 
  54. AUTOEXEC.BAT file or other batch file used for bringing up the network.
  55.  
  56.     SUBST S: C:\
  57.     S:\FT\FT.COM  <Username>
  58.  
  59. At each Futurus workstation, add the following lines to the end of the 
  60. AUTOEXEC.BAT file or other batch file used for bringing up the network.
  61.  
  62.     Net Login \\<Futurus Server>  <Username> <Password>
  63.     Net Use S: \\<Futurus Server\C-Drive\
  64.     S:\FT\FT.COM  <Username>
  65.  
  66. For those workstations that wish to use the Futurus Team Windows 
  67. interface:
  68.  
  69.     Load the DOS FT.COM program as outlined above.
  70.     Start Windows on the workstation.
  71.     Place the Futurus Team for Windows installation diskette in the 
  72.     floppy drive.
  73.     Invoke the Windows RUN command and enter in the command
  74.     box:

  76.         <Floppy Drive>:SETUP.EXE
  77.  
  78.     Perform the installation by double clicking on the install option.  A 
  79.     Windows group containing Futurus Team icons will be created for you.
  80.  
  81.     Note that the Futurus server may also act as a normal LANtastic 
  82.     workstation -- No dedicated server is required.

  84.     For those who wish to be notified when E-mail is sent to them, the  
  85.     Futurus Notify program may be configured to beep,  flash or pop 
  86.     up when new messages arrive.

  89. Product Execution Notes
  90. Activate the DOS based Futurus Team pop up program at any time by 
  91. pressing the <ctrl><left-shift> keys simultaneously.  The program, which 
  92. is menu and hot key driven,  is intuitive and easy to use.

  94. Activate the Windows Futurus Team interface by double clicking on the 
  95. desired functional icon.  Note that at this time, not all functions available 
  96. in the DOS version are supported by the Windows interface (e.g., modem 
  97. communications).  To support the Windows interface, the DOS version of 
  98. Futurus Team (FT.COM) must be loaded before Windows.

  100. Compatibility Notes
  101. Voice files created by the Artisoft sounding board and Windows 
  102. ArtiSound recorder applications can be attached to an E-mail message.  
  103. Currently, however, the voice recorded message may only be directly 
  104. played back using the Futurus Team DOS version (MULAW format).

  106. The modem pooling feature of Futurus does not function correctly with 
  107. Artisoft ArtiCom due to an incompatible implementation of DOS INT 14 
  108. extensions.

  112. compatibility                        with LANtastic v4.1.
